So what does reversing and nonreversing mean?
Please refer to the illustrations below. If a quadrant is a reversing model, the cable is attached at the bottom of the arm and the pivot point is midway on the arm. When the control knob is pulled back, the cable will be moved forward.
If a quadrant is a nonreversing model, the cable is attached midway on the arm and the pivot point is at the bottom of the arm. When the control knob is pulled back, the cable is also moved back.
Friction control is an added feature that allows you to adjust the feel of the control arms. Loosening the friction knob will allow the arm to move forward and back more freely. Tightening the knob will cause it to clamp down, making the movement stiffer.
